I've been following this for a while on weather relief will happen or not but I'm thinking it's probably gonna fall on the states to decide but i have a question to any higher up or someone who may have a clue on how this relief will work! So my loans originated in Washington state because that's where I finished school but my question is now I reside in Missouri which of course is one of the dumb states that decided to not allow relief if they have their way but I'm wanting to know that since my loans came from Washington state and I started paying on those loans in Washington state if they find a way to stop relief in the few states trying to block it am I still able to receive some type of relief since I technically started paying on my loans in a different state????????

I don't get this "not fair" argument. I got a buddy who attended a college only to not finish because of mental health challenges. He never got his degree but I'm glad he has a chance to have this debt wiped out so he can move on with his life.
There are all sorts of govt programs and subsidies that help Americans with specific needs. For example, the most recent I can think of is the EV credits which help pay for some of the costs buyers incur when purchasing an EV vehicle. It could be argued that if one can't afford an EV, don't buy one. Similarly, If you can't afford the property taxes on your home, don't buy one. If you can't afford your children, don't have them! The list goes on…
The fact is people need homes, transportation, an education, and desire to have a family, etc… all of which are longterm investments and do benefit our society when most of us partake… All of us are subject to economic conditions wherein there might be a period in ones life in which one cannot pay or pay for something you signed for as easily for one reason or another. Amazing how selfish and mean spirited some of us can be about folks personal choices to pursue their dreams/interests. There's nothing stopping any of us from lobbying our govts for more support/safety nets concerning all sorts of expenses. Corporations do!
And, if you were able to pay off your loans, however you were able to achieve that, good for you! Not everybody has been so fortunate and has been presented with the same opportunities in life. Even if you didn't need help paying you loans, ya never know – you may need help in another area of life one day that comparatively someone else did not.
Lastly, there will always be people who want to game the system. That's not most people and it would be a shame if the potential societal benefit of implementing a particular policy could always be stopped because a segment of the population seemed to be getting some unfair advantage. Who knew we were all in competition to survive rather finding ways for all of us to survive and thrive!

If you would rather see the Republicans in Congress get their student loans completely forgiven, but not even get a portion of your loans forgiven then vote for Republicans. If you would rather see the very rich get tax breaks and remove Social programs for you then vote Republican, but if you care about the needs of the many vote Democratic up and down the ballot.

I will never understand why student loan forgiveness is "bad", but giving tax breaks to the ultra rich is "good". Social safety nets are "bad", but giving billions to Israel is "good".
