Remember the reaction of NATO was the result of Russian illigal invasion of Ukraine.
The weakness is that NATO has yet to have an effective response to Russian hypersonic nuclear missiles. That is why Russian has not been attacked militarily, as it would lead to Armageddon. Russia would be destroyed, but so would the rest of the world.
Fortunately there is an alternative, the economic sanctions on Russia, will certainly make the attack on Ukraine a very bad and unprofitable decision by Putin. Russia may avoid being turned into nuclear ash, but it will be economically destroyed, isolated and condemned to being trapped in the 1960s. Far from becoming a dominant world power, it will become increasingly irrelevant.
