If you have $20,000 you will have to claim this amount on their taxes hence, they will have to pay taxes on this as income. So for those of you who think this is free money, yes, it is while you pay the taxes on it. For some of you, think beyond the end of your nose. The Biden administration is not doing this to help you. Have they ever said you will pay taxes on this amount??

New information on this student debt forgiveness, those who take the $10,000 or $20,000 dollar forgiveness will be taxed on the amount they are forgiven at 40%, so $10,000 will come out to $4,000 dollars owed to the IRS the year they get the forgiveness and if $20,000 is forgiven they will owe the IRS $8,000 dollars due the year they get the forgiveness.
