Police body camera footage and transcript show a 34-year-old man begging for help before drowning in an Arizona lake. According to a transcript released by Tempe Police, the man told officers, “I’m drowning,” and an officer says, “okay, I’m not jumping in after you.” The three officers who responded to the call have been placed on paid administrative leave. KPNX’s Michael Doudna reports.

I am a good swimmer and a 230 pound crazy man would've pulled me down with him.
only democrats see a problem with police not helping
"The officers stand there as the man just swims away". It's interesting how NBC News, in this video, leave out the transcript of the police telling him he can't swim in the lake.
By the time they took their equipment off and were able to help, it would have been too late. That was a big guy, and it would have taken multiple people to save him. It's like people expect cops to be trained in anything and everything. They were nice and cordial to the guy. He wasn't a threat, so there was no use in going after him when he went over the railing.
They are police officers not life guards
Street cops can't swim apparently? All the DOUGHNUTS
Not even lift a finger. Wow, must have got his badge in Uvalde.
At least no one was shot. Shout out his wife for probably starting the argument.
Glad the officers were safe. If you want to swim, I recommend the YMCA. It’s fun to stay at the …
At least call for help
Police officer is not superman.
If it's not a child, My children, wife, Close Family, Close friends! then Everyone else can die.
I feel some sort of effort to throw a rope, line, something to help another human being would’ve been sufficient. Jesus…
Did anyone notice the dark figure moving quickly out in the water from the left side of the water to the right , almost like it's running…. And it's halfway out of the water. It's at 1:44
I don’t support what the police did in to shooting but this is fine
The cowards aren’t forced to do anything
They are good at beating people up not saving them!!! Idiots
This is sad for everyone.
Guess it’s hard to take off some gear and jump in to help. But can’t count on police nowadays I guess. Especially since uvalde.
Perhaps saving a drowning man is not part of the Police job – but as decent able bodied humans they certainly should have saved him. Just terrible!
Nowadays cops will stand by as 19 children are brutally murdered and will watch a man drown before their very eyes as they sit around & do nothing. Cops like these should face criminal charges. If we can't trust the officers to protect the community then we can't trust anybody.

These cops are looking are more and more like a joke.
Dude was hiding his cootchy gun on the bridge piling
how can you make a conclusion based off half a video? NBC put an age limit on the video and show the full clip.
He was trying to hide his gat on the bridge piling.swim out there you might get a freebie.could be one of them crotch size assault rifle's you see them other gangsters put in there YouTube videos.i call them cootchy guns.
Clearly a suicide no blame on the cops for this one. They did warn him.
They couldn't at least call the fire department? 🙄
He wanted to die and when someone has made up their mind that they don’t want to be on this planet anymore then it’s gonna happen one way or the other ..locking these people up and shoving a ton of drugs inside them has never been the solution as they still want to die but are to zoned out to commit to doing it
