Authorities say a father and his 10-year-old son are in custody after the boy fatally shot another 10-year-old boy in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Sacramento County, Calif. KCRA’s Orko Manna spoke with the victim’s grief-stricken family.

That is so sad. Man wasn't even supposed to have a gun. If he wasn't a thief, his son would not have done this.
This is a sad series of events. I grieve with the aunt who lost her nephew. The father knew that he was not allowed to have a firearm, and even worse, he didn't properly secure it.
Unfortunately, with firearms becoming more and more of a taboo subject, there are less people willing to learn about firearm safety, and even less willing to teach the younger generations on how to be safe along with them.
Another horrible thing is that politicians will use this as an excuse to take firearms away from law-abiding citizens in hopes to prevent criminals from having access to firearms. That's like not watering your garden in order to stop the weeds from growing. It might work, but sadly, most weeds survive off the plants around them.

Did they say the shooter was 10 yrs old also? Plenty old enough to know right from wrong. He needs to be charged as a juvenile and locked up until at least 18.
I am a believer in the 2nd Amendment. I am also a believer in keeping your weapons secure, and in teaching children that weapons aren't toys and they should not be handling weapons without adult supervision.
I saw Billy Dee Williams playing I think a police detective once. I don't remember the name of the movie, but it may have been based on a true story. He catches his kids playing with his gun and naturally chews them out. Then he takes them outside, puts a whole watermelon on a post and makes the kids watch while he shoots the melon.😱 What happened to that melon is what will happen to your head, and even other parts of your body if you get shot. And yes, this entire gory scene made it into the finished film. And yes, I think that they were right to leave it in. It's a sorry state of affairs when we need strangers on TV to teach our kids serious stuff like this, but unfortunately, not enough parents are doing a good job parenting their kids, so we need help from outsiders.😟
My heart goes to the family of this little boy.😞💖💐 I'm glad that the criminal father of the other boy is now in custody, but it won't bring back this child. Use this heartbreaking event to warn people about securing their weapons.🗣️📢

The father should be charged with murder.
What about the gun? The gun was reported stolen. So what was the history of this gun? Why did the dad have it? Was the dad banned from owning a gun? How did the dad obtain the gun. What was the dad charged with. Procession of a stolen firearm? Obstruction of justice in a manslaughter case? Obstruction of justice in other cases with intent to dispose of evidence? Any priors? Any warrants?
The media needs to do their job instead of feeding the public a human interest story.
I know the pain & I know the scream I've lost my two oldest sons If my son's were bullies, gang members, drug dealers etc.., but like this baby they were just living life doing what young men were suppose to do, he was younger than my boys but the pain is still the same

The dad (surprised he’s in the picture) wasn’t legally allowed to own a gun and he had an illegal gun that he stored in an illegal manner. We need stricter gun laws!!!!
! Why does this continue to happen mainly in poor black neighborhoods? Now the son is following in the father’s footsteps. This type of stuff is generational. And the dead kid- where are his parents at? Where’s his father?

Parents get rid of your guns, because apparently our children are grabbing them out of plain sight!
It's the lyrics in the music these children hear over and over and over, again and again from a very early age, some even from the time they are born is what corrupts their minds and all to often leads to tragedies like this.

Poor baby. I feel bad for the other kid too. At 10, I doubt he realized the gravity of what he did. His dad is the one who’s at fault for being in possession of a stolen weapon and for not having it locked away securely from his child. Prayers to little KJ’s family. He was so handsome 😢

Bottom line Adults need to secure all firearms/weapons and watch the kids. Had an adult been outside this could have been prevented,but everyone thinks it's a good idea to let the kids be unsupervised then when something happens everyone is crying and confused

I knew EXACTLY where some of my dad's guns were when I was about 4 years old. I also knew not to even touch them unless it was a life or death situation because my dad would make it a death situation for me if I did.
