An eight-grade class at Almaden Country Day School in San Jose, California, was presented with an advanced opportunity to design and 3D print a prosthetic hand for a third grader, Trent DeSantis, who was born without a fully formed right hand. NBC News’ Maya Eaglin reports.

My wife of over 25 years has one hand & would be mortified by such attention. This is almost on par with 3D printing the teacher a small plastic spoon for her to better monitor her intake to assist in her not being overweight.

These children shouldn't have to do this AT ALL. We should be simply teaching them these skills anyways, not to solve an issue that arises out of our failing social and economic policies.
