The global computer chip shortage is making the choice to buy or lease a car especially challenging. For consumers in a lease that’s about to expire, there could be a silver lining if they decide to purchase the vehicle. NBC News’ Tom Costello explains.

Yea its ridiculous right now. There's hardly any new cars to buy on lot but plenty of used cars but who wants someone else's problem. Trucks and suvs can be found to purchase new but not that many. And yes the price went up on these vehicles by at least $5000 if not more. But if you have a used vehicle to sell you will get more money for it and if you have a diesel truck you will get top dollar. Almost the price you paid gor it !!
I will just dont buy a new car yet.

$31,000 for a used car?? Lol. I've been a licensed driver since 1998, haven't even spent 31k on every vehicle I've owned since then combined. Quit going to stealerships and instead get on craigslist, or auto trader, or look in you local paper classifieds, or local swap sheets, etc etc. Plenty of regular people selling their regular vehicles for regular prices. Contrary to popular belief you can buy a sub $5000 vehicle and if you don't drive like a knob and keep up with basic maintenance it'll last quite a while, I've only been doing it my entire life…
