What if you faked your kidnapping, but no public funds were spent looking for you? And no police efforts were made to find you? The police just shoved your missing person report in a drawer. Would you still be charged?

I'm sorry but she deserves way more than a year in prison and $6000 fine. Crime Stoppers raised more than $63,000 in reward money for the search of Russell, so many people went out to look for her, a mother that had a child taken and killed supported her family for crying out loud because she thought it was authentic and she wanted Russells family to have a happy ending where she didn't. Her fake kidnapping put a major damper on actual missing persons cases, her and Sherri Papini and even the Rudy Farias case. She wasted everyones time, money and caused a panic. This kind of thing should not be tolerated! I don't care if she did it because of mental issues, for the attention or just because she was bored, what she did was wrong and should be punished way more than a year and a tiny fine.
