I live in a small town in Ohio, a little over 5,000 in population and a man walked into a local store armed with a machete on New Years day and killed a young woman only 22 years of age. It's being stated that he beheaded her. I'm not saying it with certainty, but, it seems as if it might be so. He left the scene and turned himself in across the street from my home. What's wrong with the world?

Assault with Gurka Kukri or a machete, in fact any long bladed weapon should be counted as attempted murder not attempted assault. Yet according to the reporter some are classified as lesser for the same intent or attempt. It is really quite baffling to me. Please can anyone explain the difference to the assault charges. I would like to understand this conundrum of differences. Any lawyers or others with the knowledge reading this please enlighten the uninformed I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
