Actually the financial markets will crash if interest rates go up. This is not about inflation. It is about the $160 trillion in US debt and the 2 quadrillion in world debt. Our debt to gdp ratio is at 132%. A strong economy runs under 70%.
If interest rates go up they need to be at 15% or higher. This will cause defaults and bankruptcy. 30% of most US companies will default because of being zombie companies. The federal and most state governments will default while government pensions will not be to borrow to pay these over leveraged government retirement programs.
Personal loans and credit card debt will default along with student loan debt. This is just some of the problems that our corrupt Fed and Wall Street has caused.
Asset prices will collapse and could go down 80% in the financial markets while real estate goes down 40% minimum.
If the corrupt Fed and world central banksters continue to print, buy bonds and assets, and keep.interest rates near zero we will have hyperinflation, shortages, and a total economic collapse of the global economic system.
In other words, it is a no win situation.
Every morning, I wake up and I'm thankful for two things.
1. There aren't three layers of razor wire between me and the world.
2. I'm not a currency trader of any kind.

Unless Powell can pull an unlimited supply of commodities out of his ars, then he can't do anything about inflation. Raising rates will only make it harder for people to pay for higher costing essentials.

The Fed's asset price pumping program is the main cause of this inflation. They are funneling money from nowhere for doing nothing productive to their Wall Street banker owners. That money is inflationary.
