i feel sorry for parents with children in school these days.
Part of this is due to the closing of pediatric hospitals. They aren't profitable because reimbursement from the government doesn't even cover costs. Our leaders and government do not value kids' healthcare. It extends to doctors too. Pediatricians are the lowest paid physicians. The only ones paid less? Pediatric specialists! You do more training for less money. We learn in medical school that you should only go into pediatrics if you love it so much you can't imagine doing anything else – because it comes with a significant decrease in salary.
