It is the same in every country. The problem is internal. America has food, energy and people. Together with technology, America could maintain the lead for foreseeable future. But the internal problems must be tackled. China has people but getting old and need to import food. To progress, a country needs good leader, ability to admit mistakes and correct them in a timely manner. Unfortunately, America politicians are complacency considering the American way is the only decent way and American rules are the rules for everyone. Without changing this mindset, America will never learn and thus without improvement.

You were busy all over the world, trying to stay on top. China is just doing what she is good at. The few things she is good at, she also excel.
As an American, I worked for an organization that allowed me to work with Chinese businessmen and scientist around the world over the last 20 years. There is no way America can match China. This younger generation of Americans are too lazy, hooked on social media, grew up in broken families, petty, drug addicts, depressed, and unmotivated. The status between men and women are toxic in the West. The sexual immorality of Western women has destroyed the working spirit of Western men. The West has regressed into a state of immorality, indecency, irrationality, and incompetency. It is now being reflected in their government and institutions.
The Chinese are hard working, they are confident in their civilization, they believe in themselves, they are laser focused/disciplined, and they are highly motivated. Chinese men and women still believe in each other, they work together, and their nuclear families are strong. Go anywhere in the world and you see Chinese businessmen making deals, building things, and getting things done.
America cannot match this. It will take a whole new generation of Americans raised with good values to revive America. This current generation is too lazy and trashy.
Well not only China is surpassing US. India is on the way to surpass US too. They are the economy to watch.
