This conversation about China's colonialist expansionism by the means of such programs as their One Belt One Road (OBOR) global initiative very much needs to include the facts that describe how China is able to afford these very expensive programs. The conversation should begin with the fact that the last the global community heard, China had a 50 TRILLION-yuan deficit, and this was five or more years ago, and yet China has been eclipsing our own U. S. spending which is, shall we say, robust. So, the question becomes, how is China, and for that matter, the United States, able to spend all of this money without there being the tax revenue to support such spending? The answer is very, very simple; China, just like the United States, employs the process of quantitative easing (QE) which process describes the electronic generation of we the peoples' monies and these monies are available to – "Infinitum" – to quote Fed Chairman Powell and he was not kidding around one little bit. To belabor the point, quantitative easing is totally independent of any form, whatsoever, of federal tax revenue which is to say that QE is a stand-alone federal financial source which is to say that QE has made federal taxation obsolete, and it is this aspect of QE that so many people are having such a difficult time grasping even though it is an absolute fact.
The entire explanatory narrative on how and why quantitative easing works is called Equity Spending (YouTube) or ES, not to be confused with the more politically correct, Left leaning, in my opinion, inferior MMT explanatory narrative on QE spending. P.O.O.F.O.O.S.I.E.
