The reality is that Otoniel, was throwing under the bus many politicians, universities, companies and exgenerals with connections with the Clan del Gulfo as well as their involvement with narcotrafficking and paramilitarism (Private militias responsible for 65% of the crimes within the context of our Armed Conflict). Among those included in his list there are political ally supporters of the 2nd presidential candidate in polls, Fico Gútierrez and another actual candidate, Enrique Gomez Martinez both conservatives and with questionable backgrounds and support.
He gave those statements to the extraordinary tribunal created after the 2016 peace accords with FARC were signed, the Special Jurisdiction of Peace which was designed to find out the truth about crimes committed during the Colombian Armed Conflict and with that truth help repair the victims. Otoniel was giving many statements which could give support to the opposite candidate which is leading in polls and which all of the corruption in Colombia is afraid of, Gustavo Petro. We are less than 30 days away from Colombia's presidential election and a blow to the corruption of Colombia this late in the campaign could mean Petro wins.
Otoniel, after many lawsuits was allowed to talk to journalists and he had an appointment for an interview today in the morning with Colombia's biggest channel.
There was also a lawsuit placed by the victims asking for him to remain in the country until he told all the truth, something which could affect friends of the government or the elections, his extradition was placed on hold while a verdict was reached and the verdict was decided yesterday and it was supposed to take effect today. He should not have left until he had given the interview at least.
Yesterday he was taken to the CATAM military base in Bogotá and flew on a DEA plane to the United States where most likely he will keep silence since the Americans have no interest of hearing the truth.
