The new board members had campaigned on conservative values and made sweeping changes. NBC News’ Antonia Hylton reports more on shifts in curriculum and mental health services, plus the community’s response.

Eisenhower was correct: the Left is the gutter. The Right is the gutter. The Middle of the road is driveable. Too many extremists (from BOTH fringes) are currently in control. THAT has to stop.
The most dangerous thing a person can learn is that their ideology is right, full stop. Here we see examples of two ideologies with this characteristic, unable to compromise, unable to empathize, unable to coexist without completely crushing the other. One must displace the other in order to justify its existence. We claim to teach progressive ideals of openness and acceptance in our schools, and yet, never learned to apply these ideals to other ideologies held by our own fellow citizens. A nation can be torn in two by ideology with the snap of a finger, but it can only be held together by compromise.
It's a case of looking in the mirror. You could see these exact reactions by conservatives just years or months previous in other school districts all over the nation as more progressive and liberal policies and curriculum were adopted. I think both sides have lost sight of objectivity in their self righteousness. One side cannot hope to force their values on the other.
There has never truly been a dialogue between the conservatives and progressives on these issues which is why there is a sudden uproar over this sneak conservative takeover of this school board. It has forced dialogue. The lack of dialogue prior has resulted in Conservatives believing a full stop, utter rejection of progressive/liberal ideologies is the only way forward for them.
As American citizens, it is our duty, and our freedom, to participate in civics.
Whenever you hear the word ‘TAKEOVER’ you know nothing good is happening.

They don't even know the difference between EDUCATION and INDOCTRINATION. With EDUCATION, people are taught HOW to think. With INDOCTRINATION, people are told WHAT to think.
Just stop it. That rich reality TV show host, ex-government employee Donald, has a motive for lying to you. It's all about money and power to him. Nothing more. HE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU.
So stop fearing CRT. It's not a thing in grade schools or high schools. Learn what words mean. Learn how to manage your own fear. Stop TELLING people you're a "person of faith," and start SHOWING them by managing your fear and acting like a civil, mature adult, instead of a screaming child who is afraid to get a shot.
And stop believing every single thing you read on Facebook. Consider the source. Are the valid? Are they just telling you what you want to hear? WHY are they telling you these things? Are the things they're telling you are happening REALLY happening? In some cases, they are NOT happening. There is no open border. CRT is not a thing.
Lots of older people need to grow up. The maturity level of the people taking over this school board is dismal. They should never have been allowed to drink, vote, or procreate. They should be ashamed of themselves, but a basic level of intelligence is required to feel shame, and they're just not there yet.
This is a direct result of over 40 years of cuts to education. Really, grown adults should know better. And if this offends you, then congratulations on being a major part of the problem.
Find some introspection. It's okay to not know something, and to admit it. It's okay to admit you're wrong, and to correct course.
Discourages civic engagement? That’s one of the most asinine thing things I’ve ever heard. Sounds like these people need to vote some of the jokers out of office.
Don’t believe everything that media feeds you. Read the book for yourself. Often news has manipulative means when it comes to presenting a story. I feel this way about all media. I highly doubt the book discourages civil interaction unless it was talking about violent and disruptive interaction. God forbid anyone being patriotic. I will have to put this on my reading list.

I reside in Jacksonville, Florida. I have seen what happens when good people sit back and stop paying attention.
Don't allow YOUR community become like ours…once it does it becomes nigh on impossible to course correct, and even more likely for the State to not slip into the type of mess currently holding Florida in it's grip.
