Fulton County District Attorney has requested the trial for former President Trump and the 18 other co-defendants in the Georgia election interference probe to begin on October 23. NBC News’ Gabe Gutierrez reports from the Fulton County Jail as Trump is expected to surrender to authorities later today.

This is a brilliant move by Willis. Kenneth Chesebro asked for the October 23'rd trial date, probably expecting her to push back. Instead, she is calling Chesebro's bluff. Now, Chesebro's is going against what his co-defendents want, and will have to deal with their opposition.
The two key takeaways from this are that Willis is, or at least presents, that she is ready for trial and doesn't need a great deal more prep, and that she's smart and not going to be easy to outmaneuver.
No one really expects that a case this complicated can go to trial that soon, but this leaves Chesebro with three options: (1) try to get his case severed from the others, which could be difficult, (2) face the wrath of his co-defendents, or (3) withdraw his motion. He'll try for (1), and I'm hoping he won't get it.
Justice is blind but Republicans expect it to be deaf, dumb AND blind.

This is the most absurd trial start date yet. It more absurd than than the january 2024 trial start. There is no court in the land that would ever grant that. The Trial Start Date is in the middle of election where people are voting. Does Fani Willis intend to sit jury pool of a bunch people who don't vote. It completely ridiculous.
