I've been in extreme turbulence before for hours coming from Japan. Also flying over Colorado Rockies.. But I've never seen that much overhead damage before.

This happens when people are unbuckled.
If you buy a ticket for an infant or toddler in a carseat, the airlines often give that seat to someone else and you are left holding the baby.
This is why you wear your seatbelt and don’t touch the overhead bins once the aircraft has taken off. I’d bet there would only be 5 injuries or less if that were the case
It almost certainly won’t ever bring the plane down, but turbulence is still dangerous as we can see.

Since humans gained the ability to fly,there has always been turbulence,depending on weather patterns,some one said its because of climate change, you are right,we are transitioning from fall to winter, plus any time you are over the ocean turbulence is even worse,I was flying over lake Michigan, soon as we over water,weather was good but the plane dropped then the plane was able gain stability, scary, yes but I didn't panic,it was my second time I ever in a plane,getting scared doesn't help anything.
Good thing I always leave mine on… Mainly just bc it's a hassle to dig for it when they tell you to put it back on which always seem to end up under someone else's butt so I leave it on but loose. Now I'm glad I do.
Well we are meant to fly so this is the risk you take. If we were meant to fly we would have wings.

In my opinion it says quite a lot that there are no videos of the turbulence while it was happening. it tells you things were in such disarray people were far more fearful for their lives than getting on social media.

I experienced drastic turbulence on a flight recently, and I can tell you – you really feel you're about to die. There's a sense of "This is it! Oh my God!"
Have no fear folks, there has never been a single flight that crashed due to turbulence alone
