Metal fires are virtually impossible to extinguish. So if this fire is hot enough, it is a problem.
Hi. I worked on vessels for a few years. You have only 2 options with these situations: 1) Put out the fire. 2) Abandon Ship.
It sucks that the two firemen lost their life. I pray for the family, but the fourth is on the department. You are one of the largest shipping ports in the United States and you don’t train your firefighters for this when it’s in your backyard at all times there’s at least seven ships in the airport at a time
Poor souls. How does a dept of a city with such a huge port not do training for cargo ships. Rotterdam , Hamburg,Shanghai and other major ports do!

I agree 100% no life should’ve been lost for a bunch of damn cars the by the way looks like they’re used!!!! Or even new insurance could’ve take care of the whole ship if necessary!!!And also they didn’t have training to deal with this specific situation and that makes this even worse!!! RIP 🙏🏻!! My bet is it was a Tesla that caught on fire or other EV that went up in flames.
oh man, so sorry for the fire fighters, in Tacoma WA recently a fishing vessel completely burned down, none of the fire fighters went on board, no one was injured as far as I know. Wish they did the same here… unless they went on board to evacuate crew members..
