The state chief medical examiner’s office ruled the death of Irvo Otieno, at a Virginia hospital, a homicide caused by “positional and mechanical asphyxia with restraints.” WBBT’s John Hood reports.

forget the fact hes been shuffled around from jail to jail and assaulted 3 officers prior to his death…once the guy is cuffed, on the ground, and is telling you he cant breathe lay off. and yeah, theres a high probability many will fake it but as an officer, thats a risk you have to be willing to take. a cuffed , shackled and grounded man cant do THAT much damage no matter what.
How about giving the man some respect and naming him in the headline instead of pointing out his skin colour.
Compassion..?..who has that today? How many hit and runs and People don't care.
What does black have to do with this??? All I see are black sheriffs ..
Moral of story, good blacks are killed by racists while dangerous blacks are avoided and can't even be looked in the eye. My suggestion, stop trying to buddy up with the enemy and stay dangerous!!

Horrible that he died. Doesn’t anyone realize what happens with some mental health issues?? It took 10 people to subdue him..and that was including 3 medical personnel. This was not a typical situation. He had 3 assault charges, and I’m sure that those people (especially the medical personnel) were fearful for their lives. Police officers will be suspended until hearing, then the case will get dismissed..and we, again, will have rioting and a community burned down. It is a horrible cycle, and surprisingly that this appears to have happened at the mental institution.
Lack of Police training, and zero commonsense.
Train every potential police officer by demonstrating exactly how it feels to lay on your stomach, face down, with 10 ppl ontop of them. I guarantee they will Not like it, and will learn Compassion from it happening to them! They are trained with pepper spray, mace, etc, so why not show them the dangers of suffocating someone to death, and the outcome in court? That they might spend the rest of their life in prison? In solitary confinement? Take them to the prisons before hiring them, during their police academy program, and give them tours of prisons, and allow them to ask some prisoners questions! So they will be deterred from KILLING PEOPLE!

This is only half of the story. What did this schizophrenic do in order to have to have 12 people hold him on the ground? This entire demographic is out of control and this is what happens to them. Society needs to step up. Too bad he got crushed, but he should not have been disorderly in the first place probably.
