Russia was provoked into invading by US insistence of eventually putting US nukes in Ukraine. But the real reason was to convince Europe to go along with the economic war. But there is one last step needed, Europe has to stop buying gas and oil from Russia. But Zelensky is trying to negotiate a peace deal. That would be disaster for the neocons. The sanctions by the US is not what's hurting Russia it's the sanctions by europe. If peace breaks out the European sanctions might get lifted and the necons would be the loser. One way to prevent that is to repeat what;s happened in Syria, where ISIS would use nerve gas when they needed the US to bomb Assad. Expect a nerve gas attack, it would also push Europe to take the last step, to stop buying RUssian gas/oil.
Ukrainians refuse to give up and surrender. Keep on fighting Ukraine.
I am sure glad that the Ukrainians are fighting back. But I fear that Russia is intentionally keeping this fight less destructive than what they are capable. Time is on their side. From their point of view less damage the better because they are convinced they will win at the end.
