It will snap your finger or possibly your entire hand. Please be careful. On a side note they are very delicious!!! In a stew with fried catfish with potato salad. That’s how we eat them in Southeast Louisiana.

By the thumbnail, I thought that the turtle was burnt bacon or chicharron 😂😅
I was at a nature preserve a few years back…. It was the site of a decommissioned power plant… I Saw a little guy turtle that looked very similar…. It was totally black & the size of a tennis ball. I didnt touch him because i like my fingers.

We were always warned not to mess with a snapping turtle. Keep you fingers and toes away from his mouth, they said.
Try putting your finger in his mouth .
I had one in the road. Didn’t want him to get hit, I tried moving him by picking him up by the tail. Big mistake. That head came out and stretched around attempting to remove my fingers. I then used a shovel.
