Xii may or many not meet with Blinken. A meeting would be just to give face to the US. On the other hand, Xi readily agreed to meet with Gates at very short notice to discuss philanthropy, alleviating abject poverty in Africa and elsewhere and providing drugs for common diseases killing millions unnecessarily. It's a serious but enjoyable and fruitful meeting. Blinken and gang want to talk about de-risking, containment, war. Choice is clear for Xi.
