According to Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations, which tracks strikes of all sizes, there have been more than 270 work stoppages so far this year involving more than 320,000 workers. That’s over 10 times the number of workers who struck in 2021. Why are workers so fed up and could this be the start of a new national movement to strengthen unions? Detroit Free Press and USA TODAY Labor Relations Reporter Phoebe Wall Howard joins the 5 Things podcast to share what she’s hearing from people on the picket lines.

An uptick means that inflation has people needing more money to pay their bills
An uptick in strikes these days means your workplace is about to get automated lmao
Unions are corrupt organizations. They care more about headlines and self promotion than worker’s rights and fair wages. If unions cared about money in the pockets of the American workforce they wouldn’t take money from every paycheck a worker receives in exchange for a 75% pay cut when the union decides it’s time for members to stop working. Seriously, $500 a week? That is at the poverty line for a family of 3 and well below the poverty line for a family of 4. You want to know the best way to keep workers in America broke? Encourage them to join a union.
Today "Continuity" is the headlines front page of news paper here in Puerto Rico. Beside infrastructure what's next.
WGA screwed its members. Most members couldn't vote, not enough made in 2023. Studios cutting half of shows. Most writers will be pushed out if industry. The UAW will screw its members as well. As always strikes help admin, specialized workers only. This will drive up cost if vehicles, while Biden pushes move to EV cars, which will destroy USA auto industry. Why dies the UAW support Democrats as they strangle their industry??? Makes no sense. Unions are out dated and ate not helpful any longer. Lawfare pritects people present day, unions are for sub oar employees who cannot negotiate on their own worth. This will not end wrll for unions, striking during a recession is not the best plan of attack.
So, Lenin is on sale, again.
