When a group of high level unaccountable white men's club (including those egregious lawyers) start to evade, ignore and hide even small infractions and complaints – and refuse to provide an investigative arm on behalf of victims and fails to rebuke and take action on evil, this happens. This happens in Silicon Valley, in News Rooms, Hollywood (worst), Davos, everywhere power and behind door activities allow powerful white men to secretly engage in harm against others with impunity.

I'm a soft atheist or agonist-atheist, but not an anti-theist. I was raised a Roman Catholic, and although I agree that religion does harm in our society it also does good. Like everything, I've seen in our world. I can't speak to theological issues as to whether some God might be perfect or not, but anything to do with people, like any church here on Earth, it's not going to be perfect. Would the world be better without 'religion', however you might define religion, as some anti-theist might argue? I don't know, but whatever moral code that one appeals to it seems extremely unlikely that no one, or no organization, is going to be able to entirely enforce that code on everyone, or even themselves as individuals… even if they should try, another question in, and of, itself. We're human, we're not perfect. Unfortunately, we appear to live in a world of human-generated evil of free will and also natural evil. Here perhaps it's a bit of both. In any case, it seems to be a complex, imperfect world from where I don't see any escape from that unfortunate reality. Let's hope the Southern Baptist Convention will take concrete steps to enable them to handle these kinds of unfortunate circumstances better in the future.
