Russian authorities in Crimea acknowledged a drone targeted naval headquarters. The drone was suspected of being part of Ukraine’s new offensive deep in Russian-occupied territory. President Putin called Crimea Russia’s “holy land,” though the peninsula was illegally annexed in 2014. Since February, Russia has used the area as a staging ground to attack Ukraine, but now, Ukraine is pushing back, showing that no Russian military site is safe. President Zelenskyy predicts that Crimea will soon be liberated.

What's so hard to understand just like the USA won't tolerate any foreign military in the Americas, neither will Russia tolerate any NATO/US/Western military in proximity to their border.
