I left California in 1982, for N.C. precisely because of the tax issue and the income. I've lived in Illinois, California, Hawaii and N.C. along New Jersey, Massachusetts and Connecticut in my two decades serving in the Marines. I was literally starving in California when I left, I left Illinois in 76 to get away from Chicago and the crime. You have to be literally crazy to live in a blue state. I'm shocked there's anyone living in them. So far, N.C. is the best state I've resided in, I'm now retired. John McClain, GySgt, USMC

Maybe there is a reason blue states want wealth out. The states mentioned have some of the highest legacy property values in the Nation. What better way to redistribute land wealth than to have wealthy people give it up willingly. Then the politicians can have their supporters purchase the land replacing the former owners.
It's not a mass exodus it's a virus spreading to other healthy systems. They move out because of the failures of the blue states and then vote for the same things that lead to those failures in the new places they move to starting the whole process over again.
I live in Monroe county FL and my property taxes just went up to 17%, the highest have ever seen it!!
