So now why would anyone give big money to their alma mater? No Affirmative action and no legacy. now we gonna have to admit peole based on merit. This is not fair.
I wonder how many people who have worked or are currently working in the news media, have benefitted from legacy admissions themselves?
The only people I've ever heard talk about admissions based solely on "merit" are those who did NOT attend top tier schools. Anyone who attended an elite university has always known that there are many different ways to get 'preferential' admissions, and most receiving such status have not been Black.
Over 100 HBCU'S and blacks are crying Victimhood. No more legacy admissions at HBCU'S either.

It’s just a name! That’s what people fail to understand. Just because you went to Harvard doesn’t mean you actually learned anything by going there. Some of the most brilliant minds in history had no college education.

Lagacy admission is affirmative action for white people and it should be banned.
Thank goodness. A lot of universities – including my alma mater – used AA to excuse a system that benefited the wealthy and privileged over everyone else. It went something like this:
“We’re all for DEI! But…reimbursement for student teaching transit costs, aid money for gas (that we promised)? Uuuh…not so much. But look, we have a (wealthy) person of color in our program. We’re so proud of our diversity. Yes, those other PoC who are not privileged in our program are going deep into debt because we give no scholarships but…we’re for DEI! Go us!”
Uuugh. Colleges need to be called out for using token AA to maintain disgusting inequality.🤦🏻♀️

Ironically, there may be grounds to sue these schools for doing away with legacy admissions. They are clearly doing it because (in their view) too many legacy students are white.
Legacy admission is totally different from affirmative action. Race is a protected class, and that's why AA was banned. Where your parents went to school, however, isn't a protected class.
