The designation of "Middle East" to refer to Arab nations is a term coined by Western media and should be reconsidered by Arab nations as it is not appropriate. Instead, Arab countries around the Persian Gulf should be referred to as West Asia. Given that Arab populations are dispersed across North Africa and West Asia, a more suitable term would be "North Africa West Asia" countries, or NAWA countries. The UN uses the terms West Asia and NAWA (North Africa-West Asia), not the Eurocentric term "Middle East."
