Not only the contractor is at fault but the building inspector. I actually caught my building inspector on video, discussing how the contractor was lucky that he was inspecting and not one of the other inspectors because the others would have called them out and made them correct their errors. Yep you bet I sent that video to the City commissioners and the mayor and the city manager. Was anything done ? he may have been demoted slightly but he is still an inspector. So many people are just worthless human beings wasting space on this planet.

That right there is how expensive it is to hire an amateur.
You guys keep blaming contractors, but you do realize that old houses have nails instead of screws to hold dry walls that become loose as time passes with expansion and contraction of the entire house. And then some dopey homeowner comes along, doesnโt re-screw the ceiling and then loads the ceiling with their own DIY attic insulation project. And then I as a contractor comes by to scrape the texture off the ceiling, and then the entire second story ceiling falls down on my crew. They tried to make me pay for it I said no thank you because thatโs not supposed to happen when we scrape the ceiling and there was a bunch of previous homeowner, DIY projects all over the house that were very shotty, and so the new homeowners could not argue with me on that.
Well it's only obvious the whole thing was rigged by Sabatier/hitmen! Man was SUPPOSED TO SIT at table, reach for blue-capped bottle, rigged to a switch, and bring the whole thing down on his head! But, Mr. Bond Jr., was clever~ he instead stands clear of harm, reaches for bottle/switch and VOILA!!
Saves himself, & the world, from these evil, bad, and justifiably pissed off, villains.

You know that room everyone sits in cos there is so much to do in there on an empty table. So he rushes to set up his phone to record it, JUST IN CASE , you know , JUST IN CASE THE HOUSE FALLS IN.

No, this is what happens when everyone is running after the looks, this goes for everything in life. You have to over-do some of the things in life, yes that includes houses.
That happened to our house. But it was an English victorian house with high heavy lath and plaster ceiling.
Luckily it was only me and my two dogs at home. I was walking directly under it when it fell. ( missed the doggos thankfully) When I came to. I looked like that scene in carrie . Check your ceilings people. ๐๐ฑ

Ugh.. this brings back some horrible memories! Taking a nap with my newborn and my oldest son shows up at my bedside with a look of horror telling me the roof is falling! He had just gotten his own bedroom and was playing by himself when his ceiling fell luckly didnt land on him! The insulation was everywhere! Floating in the air forever. I couldn't help but feel so guilty like if i had been more knowledgeable about our home that i could have prevented it.

Looks like my ex husband's house, it was built so cheaply. Everything was wrong with it, he had been living there 26 yrs. When we divorced, he finally moved away with his girlfriend that he had an affair with. She got him to buy an expensive house!
