I’m working these types of homes this week. Most of those do not have home insurance. The lucky ones are covering their roof with tarp and it’s crazy because no one wants to help them with all the price gouging. It’s really though especially when most mobile homes are 55+ communities. These people mostly moved from out of state and don’t have young family members here. I say that because I have been here for days helping and it is so sad

I don’t think that storm surge on Ft. Myers Beach and Sanibel was survivable! The water was so high, and was moving with so much force and speed that I don’t think you could have survived it, unless you fled to higher ground or a higher building. Evidently many people didn’t survive that surge. To be brutally honest it’s a stupid and foolish way to die by riding out a major hurricane on a barrier island!

Mobile homes aren’t built the same way they were built even 10 years ago they are built to be able to handle the different regions of the United States that they are going to be set up in they have to be able to handle the delivery process and handle the speed limits of the freeways for whatever period of time it takes for the delivery process and as you can see they aren’t very aerodynamic so that process is something a stick built home doesn’t go through and I’m sure there are plenty of stick built homes that weren’t able to handle the same thing that a modern prefab home can but at the wind speed this hurricane hit land at there isn’t much that can handle that kind of power and devastation that storm hit with and it’s not worth staying and trying to ride out any storm of this magnitude just pray for all affected

I'm in Venice and we were flooded in our neighborhood, I have a tree stuck in my roof and extensive flood damage inside my home, I'm without 3 major appliances now plus my car won't even start correctly, it sputters and I'm hoping the engine wasn't damaged by all the water.. It has been an awful experience trying to get help! Media has been focused on fort Myers, Orlando, st. Pete -Tampa. It hit or missed ppl.
