Consider it an indigenous land acknowledgement.
>> Too soon?
There is a video of the attack that was caught on a neighbors backyard nature cam. (Search for "Gloria Serge alligator attack".) Gloria was walking her dog right along the water's edge. She wasn't forced by the HOA to do that. She had lived in that community for decades. And everyone that lived there knew about the gator in that pond. The residents had even given him a name, "Henry". He would often sun himself on the shores of the pond. As in most cases when dealing with wildlife, if you don't mess with them, they won't mess with you. In her defense though, at 85, like most elderly people it's doubtful she still possessed her critical thinking or common sense. This was essentially "an act of nature" accident and no one is truly to blame. Crocodiles/alligators and ponds/lakes are innate to Florida and impossible to avoid if you choose to live there.
I'll tell ya what's truly idiotic, is the young people that visit Yellowstone and approach the bison to take a selfie and then wonder why they get gored by them. It's been happening more and more. smh
Please sue the HECK OUT OF THEM!!
RIP such neglect for her safety sue the pants off them
As a former Florida resident who fished many of these Condo Community style ponds/lakes l can say they are very dangerous and almost every one of these bodies of water attracts large gators with little or no effort to make them safe by the property owners and developers. ๐ฎ
Well there is alligators in ever water way in Florida
0:53 alligator ๐ isnโt going anywhere with that thic gurl on him ๐
How much is an 85 yo womans life worth? 10 grand? 25 grand? It cant be much to a jury.
She probably received the eviction notice for not picking up her dog's poop.
This is SO common. Children have lost their lives to reptiles as well as all ages. The reptiles are ruthless. WE should NOT allow this insanity!
The family should take all the money and cause the hoa to be shutdown
Someone needs to change the status of reptiles from Endangered to Overpopulated!!! Set up businesses that tan leather etc. profits, not losses!
the ocult sun on billbord sez it all" sacraficed!
I can not imagine what kind of human being would choose to live in that state with that problem and home insurance problem and the nasty politics of fear of the white replacement theory running the government there . We should give it back for the Indians to govern along with give Texas back to Mexico
Sending condolences to Gloriaโs family. I pray that you win your lawsuit.

Newsman – give it to us straight. Just the facts, in narrative form. You talk like walking backwards into a room, no one knows where you are going
Bless her heart my the Lord take her with him
Thats scarry that those allegators in a residential nieghborhood its need made safe for everyone somehow
Where do we expect animals to go, when we build and force them out of their environmentโฆ.๐ข
Alligators are equal opportunity killers. Crazy for neighbors to feed them. Yes, the family should seek damages.
Floridian here .
Iโm surprised this does not happen more . The greedy developers built housing complexes where they had no business putting them . Gators are indigenous wildlife to Florida before it became a state . They have built condos a few feet from the edge of canals , and lakes where the gators ๐ live . Horrific, preventable tragedy . Rip to this poor soul .
They baited her to the pond
You live in Florida you should know not to walk along the water, especially being old and feeble like this law suit.
Allugators dont obey laws. This is sad but rediculous
How stupid are you? You should assume EVERY body of water in Florida has at least an alligator in it, but there are probably more. It is nobodies fault but your own. You built your homes in THEIR Habitat. They did not move into your 'hood
This is what happens when there is overdevelopment and encroaching on animals' habitat.
Deepest condolences to her family and friends ๐
Letโs seeโฆ.Florida, water, alligatorsโฆ.thats enough warning as far as Iโm concerned.
what about kids who live there not one of those houses had the black fence that you can see thru why would anyone buy one of those houses
The dog got away why couldnโt she.
Absolutely, take action.
Very sorry for the family. The law suit will hopefully bring much needed changes where ponds with alligators are too close to humans. Subdivisions, RV parks and golf courses should not be dangerous places.
Alligator had a name Henry and residents fead him. Don't feed them.
Tragic however, they were there first you moved in knowing full well, that these animals exist in the waters and the swamps
Yeah, it was preventable. Donโt live in Florida. Donโt walk NEXT TO A BODY OF WATER with a prey animal.
I was from Cali and moved to the south for few years I learned quickly to teach my kiddo every body of water has suppin in it..esp gators…hope they are going to relocate gators
the Fish and Wildlife authorities need to help get some laws into place for these developments-retention ponds need close monitoring and fences! developers are making money but putting residents at risk-Developments with elders or little children and pets and retention ponds, canals, lakes or any body of water on the property should be liable! Gators are drawn to water and food!
They wonโt get much in a lawsuit. If youโre 85 years old, the actuarial tables say youโre not worth much.
I don't buy it……if you have to walk your dog in the "back yard" with the pond in in it, you walk 30 feet or more away from the water, which you could in these pictures….if you're afraid of the water cuz of gators.
When did this happen? I recall thinking she walked too close to the water, with her dog. Fault, I don't see it as bc it won't bring her back. Extremely sad & tragic, she died a horrific death. Now it's who is responsible?
HOAs are so ridiculous and unnecessary. This is so sad.
Why would you live in Fla๐คฎ
