The kid DID NOT need constant supervision. He was misbehaving like any other kid who suffers from abandonment and adoption by cruel parents. OTHERWISE, how come he went to school? The wife is next and hope these horrible people get their due in prison!!!

There was a life for him outside of that box – labor, belittling, criticism and threats sprinkled with family photo ops for good measure.

I was thinking last night, about the enclosure where this animal put his son & trying to imagine how HOT that "room" without a window must have gotten in both Florida & Arizona ….imagine a 95 degree day, that room without windows and door shut would have been in excess of 100 degrees…..Thank God this young boy/ child didnt die….Put this "Devout Christian" out of his misery
This guy makes me feel sick.. he deserves 40+years and his wife another 40 or 50 years since she is and was his accomplice in abusing their son.
he's a man that abused his son, locked him up in a room, neglected him, and is a horrible human. hopefully he rots in jail and never comes out. lets see how he likes it.

Child abuse is wrong and imprisoning someone in a confined space is wrong. This is why this man is convicted because these things are obvious and we have laws against abuse. So how can we take this logic and improve our prisons?
Our prisons confine people in a small space, subject them to constant fear of violence, malnourish them and even reinforce racism by segregating and encouraging gang culture and mob mentality.
I am not suggesting prison should be a great vacation like spa. However we are already taking away someone's freedom. So abusing them in not needed. They should have a reasonable assumption of safety while in the care of the prison system without abuse from other inmates or guards. They should not be subjected to hyperinflated cost of goods in commissary or communication with their family. They should also get adequate medical and mental health care. The practice of segregation in prisons needs to be abolished as it is inhumane and encourages even more race related crimes.
