Who is God in Islam ?
Muslims believe that God has no partners or associates who share in His divinity or authority and that God is transcendent, unlike His creations, and thus has no physical form. Nor is God believed to exist in (or be represented by) any material object. A number of divine attributes or โnames,โ which serve to describe God, are found in the Qurโan. Some commonly known attributes include the Most Merciful, the Most Forgiving, the Most High, the Unique, and the Everlasting, among others.
Islam honors all the prophets who were sent to mankind. Muslims respect all prophets in general, but Jesus in particular, because he was one of the prophets who foretold the coming of Muhammad. Muslims, too, await the second coming of Jesus. They consider him one of the greatest of Allah's prophets to mankind. A Muslim does not refer to him simply as "Jesus," but normally adds the phrase "peace be upon him" as a sign of respect. No other religion in the world respects and dignifies Jesus as Islam does. The Qur'an confirms his virgin birth (a chapter of the Qur'an is entitled "Mary"), and Mary is considered to have been one of the purest women in all creation.
The Angel Gabriel was sent to Mary in the form of a man, with glad tidings of a child who was to be born miraculously without a father.
โThen We sent to her Our spirit (angel Gabriel), and he appeared before her in the form of a man in all respects. She said: โSurely I seek refuge from you with the Most Beneficent (God) if you do fear God.โ He said: โI am only a messenger of your Lord: to announce to you the gift of a righteous son.โ She said: โHow shall I have a son, seeing that no man has touched me, and I am not unchaste?โ He said, โThus [it will be]โ. Your Lord says, โIt is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter [already] decreed.โโ Qurโan 19:17-21
Some claim that his miraculous birth is evidence of Jesusโ divinity. However, Jesus was not the first to come into existence without a father, as Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) before him had neither a father nor mother. God says:
โThe likeness of Jesus before Allah is as that of Adam; He created him from dust, then said to him: โBeโ, and he was. This is the truth from your Lord, so be not of the disputes.โ Qurโan 3:59-60
Surely, if Jesus is worshipped due to having no father, Adam is more deserving of worship since he was created without either parent.

Nm 21:4-9
From Mount Hor the children of Israel set out on the Red Sea road,
to bypass the land of Edom.
But with their patience worn out by the journey,
the people complained against God and Moses,
โWhy have you brought us up from Egypt to die in this desert,
where there is no food or water?
We are disgusted with this wretched food!โ
In punishment the LORD sent among the people saraph serpents,
which bit the people so that many of them died.
Then the people came to Moses and said,
โWe have sinned in complaining against the LORD and you.
Pray the LORD to take the serpents away from us.โ
So Moses prayed for the people, and the LORD said to Moses,
โMake a saraph and mount it on a pole,
and whoever looks at it after being bitten will live.โ
Moses accordingly made a bronze serpent and mounted it on a pole,
and whenever anyone who had been bitten by a serpent
looked at the bronze serpent, he lived.
Responsorial Psalm
102:2-3, 16-18, 19-21
R. (2) O Lord, hear my prayer, and let my cry come to you.
O LORD, hear my prayer,
and let my cry come to you.
Hide not your face from me
in the day of my distress.
Incline your ear to me;
in the day when I call, answer me speedily.
R. O Lord, hear my prayer, and let my cry come to you.
The nations shall revere your name, O LORD,
and all the kings of the earth your glory,
When the LORD has rebuilt Zion
and appeared in his glory;
When he has regarded the prayer of the destitute,
and not despised their prayer.
R. O Lord, hear my prayer, and let my cry come to you.
Let this be written for the generation to come,
and let his future creatures praise the LORD:
โThe LORD looked down from his holy height,
from heaven he beheld the earth,
To hear the groaning of the prisoners,
to release those doomed to die.โ
R. O Lord, hear my prayer, and let my cry come to you.
Verse Before the Gospel
The seed is the word of God, Christ is the sower;
all who come to him will live for ever.
Gospel
Jn 8:21-30
Jesus said to the Pharisees:
โI am going away and you will look for me,
but you will die in your sin.
Where I am going you cannot come.โ
So the Jews said,
โHe is not going to kill himself, is he,
because he said, โWhere I am going you cannot comeโ?โ
He said to them, โYou belong to what is below,
I belong to what is above.
You belong to this world,
but I do not belong to this world.
That is why I told you that you will die in your sins.
For if you do not believe that I AM,
you will die in your sins.โ
So they said to him, โWho are you?โ
Jesus said to them, โWhat I told you from the beginning.
I have much to say about you in condemnation.
But the one who sent me is true,
and what I heard from him I tell the world.โ
They did not realize that he was speaking to them of the Father.
So Jesus said to them,
โWhen you lift up the Son of Man,
then you will realize that I AM,
and that I do nothing on my own,
but I say only what the Father taught me.
The one who sent me is with me.
He has not left me alone,
because I always do what is pleasing to him.โ
Because he spoke this way, many came to believe in him.
