Raise the age for military service to 21, gun ownership to 21, drinking 21, at least there would be some consistency on imposing limitations based on current maturity . Sending an 18 year old to potentially kill members of another culture should require the highest level maturity and responsibility.
More people die from fists and blunt objects than rifles every year. 100'000 Americans died from fentanyl overdose last year but I dont hear anyone crying about that or the border.

KUDOS to my fellow Montanan, Mr. Busse; the many, many responsible gun owners who have contacted you absolutely represent my family and me. I grew up in W MT in a gun-owning family, and my dad and older brothers were target shooters and hunters. From the earliest age I can remember, gun safety — for which NRA used to be known and respected — was THE LAW in the house: We were to treat EVERY gun as loaded, and were ingrained to understand the lethality of a gun's effect on the human body: When my older brothers were about middle-school age, my dad took them out into the woods to show them the effect of a shotgun blast on a young tree.
Your efforts to educate the public and influence public policy are highly laudable, and I hope to see and hear a LOT more from you as this issue goes forward.

Profit over People. There has to be more accountability amongst people. How did an 18 year old purchase 2 weapons costing $2000 each and ammunition to go with them? Was this child sponsored by some group? 2nd Amendment YES. But there has to be more accountability and responsibility. Each person and young person who had their life taken had their CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS TAKEN AWAY. Even 18 year olds joining the military can't buy tobacco products or alcohol. And they are part of our military family. So to the previous question, how did this 18 year old gain such a weapon? The same in Buffalo, Sandyhook, Columbine. Each year over 20 mass shootings all over the country. When is it going to stop?
