More than 26 million free meals were served to students every day because of a federal free school lunch for all program that started during the pandemic. Now, that program is ending and families must apply for meal coverage, but only certain incomes meet the requirements. NBC News’ Emilie Ikeda spoke with families directly impacted and looks at how one school district is trying to meet the need.

I would’ve had no lunch, reality .
Take back the $3.6 BILLION in the loans that our clown government has promised to morons getting $$$ for "Degrees" in CRT, Toxic Masculinity, Pronouns, Gender Fluidity etc…and apply it for the children/parents! These "Snowflake" fruit loops should join the military to pay off their debts, not the tax paying American, the children! A cafeteria worker was just recently fired for giving children a full school lunch (instead of a cheese sandwich) for not being able to pay: she paid for it out of her own pocket! WTFU! The children are "Their" Target for indoctrination and many other things that I'm unable to post! The whole world system is being deliberately imploded!!!!!

Our lunch is $3.50…. when I was in school some odd 10 years ago, it was 1.75. For high school lunch, elementary school was only $1.25. How it can go up this much is unacceptable. Lunch should be free for all children. If we took care of our veterans, elderly, and children as much as we do folks not even citizens, or sending millions or billions in aid to random countries, the country would look a lot different to say the least. Pathetic…. Poor kids. Had to buy a birthday present for my child's classmate. $50 for a small box of Legos. We'll go back to the age of only getting one or two presents for Christmas for the majority of American's if you are lucky.
The school should provide breakfast lunch and snacks.

The free lunch is trash anyway . The food was in the trash more often than it was consumed . My kids had the free lunch last year and they always complained that the food was sour , expired and everything was either still frozen in the middle , molded , soggy , or tasted rancid.
If this country is still feeding convicts for free, this is bs. Make convicts work for food or require families to provide. Taking food from children while feeding convicts and sending billions to Ukraine is criminal.

No more school lunch program?! Pretty sure we can and should prioritize this. Food is fuel. Children can’t learn on empty tummies. In fact, more programs like this should be available to all citizens who are in need of warm meals. No one should stay hungry.

Parent's need to be responsible for that taxpayers don't, i work for school district and see kids almost put the whole meal in the trash that's way the secretary design " shake and share " if anything in the meal don't like it they set that in the special table where the kids can't paid the meal can get something basically make they own meal and shake is set the recycle trash in the right trash can .
As a taxpayer I say let the kids eat for free I don't have kids of my own yet but I don't mind my taxes to feed someone else kids because its helping the community. As a single person I pay more taxes. Everyone else who doesn't like letting kids have a free lunch is a sour grape.
If your kids eat breakfast at home like they should does it really have to cost 118 dollars a month to send him to school with homemade lunch? Probably not.
No it should not be free for all children! If a household makes 200k they can afford to feed their own kids. Don't act so liberal without any logical thought. Now maybe they can lower the minimum income requirement to cover more kids but free for all is stupid and irrational.
The single mom they interviewed is struggling to afford school lunch for her 4th grader but thought it was a great idea to have another baby. I don’t understand why her poor choices become everyone else’s problems.
No worries all the money will do those Ukrainian people very nicely, or at least pay off some deadbeat's college debt.
