People have no problem paying hundreds of dollars for flight but won't pay for trip insurance ….. this will alliviate some financial problems.. also people have to understand these gate agents sometimes get the same information you do so yelling at them and being irate wont help… in addition i think these airlines should invest in better cancelation process …including the whole rebooking process you'd do with an agent but on your app . It would eliminate lines…. cancellations and delays are part of the traveling process… if you cant handle the fact that might be a possibility dont travel
I was cancel 2x from Lagaurdia to my destination, Tuesday 4days ago. theres no help and staying at the airport for long hr , long line for rebooking from dever and some been there for days.
is it not common knowlegde that this strike has been in the works all year? we've worked in worse weather, and we've never been so staffed. lets ignore the fact united hasn't given their works a solid raise during covid all the pain united staff has had to go through, and inflation gone up. united NEVER took care of it employees.
As a former airline employee, coding a delay or cancellation as WX or Weather relieves the airline of any responsibility even when it has NOTHING to do with WX. Don't blame the gate agents…they can't do anything if theydont have a crew or a plane

missed my connecting flight from LgA to IAD. they cancelled that last minute. drove to IAD in hopes of catching our next connecting flight from IAD to vegas. after being delayed three times, it was cancelled. has to move all my plans and over 8k worths of reservations in vegas to august. faa really fucking sucks

The people screaming at the gate attendant staffs should be ashamed of themselves. They are venting at the people LEAST equipped and LOWEST paid to absorb unreasonable customer demands that those employees should be held accountable for whatever issues arise unrelated to direct job parameters.
I used to work for a hotel, years ago. I got pretty damned good at making sure guests recognized I drew a distinct line between appreciating that expression of frustration is one thing…indulging directing personal abuse deriving from that frustration was quite another. And – never had to raise my voice, never abandoned professional deportment, etc. once during the entire career. Didn't have to.
It's just awful to see people with money suffer.
The problem that customer service with US air carriers is terrible. No reimbursement for ruining your vacations plans whether it is weather or not that caused the cancelation. Jet Blue cancelled my flight and I missed 2 nights in the Maldives, which is not a cheap vacation. Jet Blue gave ne $25. It is insulting to customers.
Congress needs to do something.
It is pathetic that airports are not required to provide better accommodations for stranded travelers. I think they should replace all gate chairs with reclining ones. They need to provide space and cots. This is 2023 and it is greed that keeps the aiports from doing something.
Isn't it funny how before covid we NEVER had these issues (likewise, dozens of other issues as well), at ALL.
But now, they seemingly exist ALL the time – most notably, ONLY during our Holidays, when we have extra time off from work, to enjoy ourselves.
How convenient.
We ALL know that these things are PURPOSELY taking place, for the sole purpose of "sticking-it," to The People, again!

UNITED AIRWAYS – what a pathetic joke!
Flight was cancelled from Melbourne to San Francisco via sms at 1.10am so had to rebook
Got into USA and then went to NYC. Had flight from NYC to BOGATA on Monday. 5 hour delay, then boarded and sat for 2h+ and advised fight cancelled along with many other United flights, and could get NO customer service. 12 hours sitting in airport before being told at 1:39am all flights cancelled again. Went into NYC, have had to find own hotel, unable to contact United service desk, got a sms 3pm Wednesday afternoon to say we have been rebooked from NYC to Bogata.
What a joke this airline is! Never again will we fly United and also cannot understand how Virgin has them as a global partner!
