What they need are jets. The Russians are already committed genocide and have broken nearly every humanitarian law, so what kind of ESCALATION are western leaders afraid of that keeps them from giving Ukraine jets? If the Russians were going to use WMDs in response to aid they would have done so when US javelins scrapped more than half their tanks. Just a handful of modern fighter would make a world of difference.
We will give them everything they need…. we will not give them the fighter jets they want or any other real equipment they ask for its up to the other countries…

Don't worry about fighter jets. $30 million worth of Kamikaze drones or anti-tank rockets will go a lot farther than one fighter jet.
An expensive fighter jet will be an incredibly attractive target for Russian drone strikes as well. It will also have survivability issues over a battlefield that has heavy Russian surface to air missile presence.

Boris Johnson said he would get lethal weapons to Ukraine a few weeks ago. Russian helicopters and drones are being blown out the sky by Starstreak missiles right now. As the flagship nation of all Western democracies, the US needs to lead by example and accelerate their weapons programme to meet the urgent needs of Ukraine NOW, not next week or the week after.

When the West provides effective weapons, the Russian long-range artillery will be silenced and the Russian aircraft will not penetrate Ukraine's borders. Ukraine is being flooded with obsolete weapons. It needs the right weapons. When Ukraine's cities are not longer shelled and bombed, we'll now the West is finally sending the weapons that matter.
