No territorial concessions, Russia should be forced to give back all the territory it has taken from Ukraine by force. Otherwise, Putin will be seen to have won by aggression and it makes future acts of aggression by totalitarian states more likely.

No senator there cannot be any territorial concession by Ukraine to a criminal war of aggression because it compromises the Nuremberg Charter.There have only been 3 prior criminal wars of aggression in legal history and none have ended in a treaty because any treaty in this context is void as contrary to the Nuremberg Charter. As you say it is an attack on the international order but that is the international legal order not just the international political order and Russia must at the bare minimum be returned to the de facto 2014 boundaries and pay reparations to Ukraine for all loss civilian and military of property and life plus damages for profits lost due to its war of aggression and also for the cost of NATO weaponry necessary for Ukraine's right of self defense that it was forced to exercise. The universal crime of aggressive war is the ius ad bellum and draws no distinction between civilian and military losses compared to the ius in bello which contains but is not confined to the 1949 Geneva Conventions on the laws of war that deals with persons de hors combat and is part of the larger serious violations of international humanitarian law with crimes against humanity and genocide that does not extend to cover a criminal war of aggression that stands alone and only applies to international armed conflicts. The universal Nuremberg crime of aggressive war is a unique crime that stands apart and distinct from all other war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide and it is not a treaty crime but is a ius cogens preemptory norm customary law delict by the Russian state and universal Nuremberg crime by its leadership . It criminalises the war as ongoing not just how it started with no causus belli and the criminality of the Russian leadership may be aggravated by the circumstances in which young Russian soldiers were conscripted and lied to subsequently losing their lives or suffering serious injury These soldiers have no criminal responsibility under the ius ad bellum but are governed by the ius in bello and otherwise required to follow orders but it is an interesting case where those orders contain deliberate lies and deceptions that have cost the soldiers their lives. You need to get your legal structures straight to understand this sophisticated but fabulous part of the law that Putin thinks he can destroy. It is not called a criminal war of aggression for no reason and is an international entrenched delict by Russia with universal criminal responsibility falling directly on the Russian political and military leadership. Russia cannot obtain one legal blade of grass out of this criminal war of aggression and Zelensky can lie to Putin and sign anything to get Russia back to the 2014 de facto borders. This is a war in rem and cannot be ended by an in personam agreement between Ukraine and Russia that infringes on the parameters of the criminal war in rem. This war is identical to a Mongol invasion and give Putin anything compromises the law back to the Mongol invasions.

the problem of current US administration is, everyone is from Senate, POTUS, VP, and all the way down, they spent whole life talking, no one ever put a IKEA furniture together. Their mindset is they approved the budget, everything will happen. The problem in Ukraine is, it destroyed all the bridges and flooded its own towns to slow down Russian. That is why US is laughing at Russia now. But, all the $50 billion weapons US sent, will be destroyed by Russian from the air when they are stuck somewhere in the road.

This bloke is a right dangle berry. He talks about helping Ukraine ‘win’ but then fence sits on issues such as Russia taking control of territory. So help Ukraine win the fight, but in reality, they will still be kicked out of parts of their own house? It seems ‘winning’ has some political meaning that I don’t understand. If Russia annexes more Ukraine territory….they did not ‘win’…. in fact they have lost, as Russia achieved the result that it wanted to….even if major loses occurred and secondary objectives were not fulfilled.
