There is a difference between the pre-covid economy and the post-covid economy. They aren't comparable. Trump inherited a low unemployment, low inflation economy. The unemployment rate shot up to 15% and the housing market caught fire in summer 2020. Can't place blame on Biden for worldwide inflation.

Our public education system has been under Democrat control since at least 1974. We pay more per student in tax money than any other major First World Industrial nation. The return on investment? According to a recent OECD study the US ranked 11th out of 79 countries in science and 30th in math. Pretty obvious where the problem resides.

Education performance is a Red Herring. Test performance is less indicative of academic/career success as people assume. More importantly is who can control education, and academic content, with Republicans wanting to whitewash history and critical thinking and remove any "controversial" topics from education. Now THAT does affect the future of this country!

The sad thing is that it’s not Joe Biden’s fault. These kids were way far behind because if you look at the numbers, these kids were already far behind before the pandemic. It just so happened that during the pandemic, nobody went to school so we started measuring educational progress of children. The funny thing is had we been measuring educational progress of children we would have seen that these kids were doing good even when they were going to school.
There is a fundamental problem with the school systems in America. We don’t want to fix it. We don’t pay teachers enough money flat out we just don’t. Then we have these large class sizes we know that’s not good for education, but we won’t fix it. We know that our approach is broken. We won’t fix that either. There are two recent approaches to reading and mathematics both failed miserably. Teachers have gone back to teaching reading in English and spelling the way we learned when we learned hooked on phonics, and they’ve gone back to trying to teach math the way we learned math. Of course there’s a problem when you try and teach math. That way you need someone who actually majored in mathematics you need a math teacher. We don’t have many of those qualified math teachers out there. Do you know how hard it is to find a math teacher in America, who has a masters degree in mathematics? It’s very hard because those individuals could go into corporate America make twice but they make as a teacher they could go into corporate America and make triple what they make as a teacher. They would work less hours, and they wouldn’t have to worry about trying to educate nearly 25 students per classroom.
I’ll give you a perfect example to prove our system is broken. If your son or daughter went into a math classroom and they were a genius at math. Right now if they went into a fifth grade classroom and they were prepared to do sixth grade level math they would have to sit through the fifth grade level math . That makes no sense. They would literally be forced to sit there in a classroom when they need to be somewhere, they are being challenged. We know this is true for children partly because it holds their attention span but also because of a little thing called focus. When a child can complete their assignments rapidly and they have 40 minutes to do nothing there’s a chance they lose focus. I did in the sixth grade I lost focus I became a class clown. I was done with the math. I was done with the science. I was done with the reading. What was the kid to do? I miss behaved. We don’t even have a system in place to help students who are ready to excel. Now it’s even worse for students who need extra help. If a child shows up to a fifth grade level class and they are only prepared to do third grade level math we have no solution for them none the only thing we can say is hopefully you’ll catch up. If not, we will fail you. I don’t mean we will fail you as in we won’t be successful in educating you I mean they will give the child an F. Yes they also happen to fail the child not just with a grade but with the experience they were given. This is our problem in the American education system we can’t pivot and help children who might need more help or push children forward who are ready to excel. We simply don’t have the resources in place to do so. Our education system needs far more resources than we have in place. I don’t care whether you want to argue about public or private schools. One thing is for sure we the American people weed. The government are failing the children.
