I'm no expert and don't know all the ins and outs of your pond but if it's not aerated it'll be green,is it fed by another source? That would be good. Has to have some running water,still water will turn green. Algae loves sunshine too. I just have near 30 yrs of pool care that's all. How about some catfish? I think that love Algae

If you haven’t already looked it up the plant you bought is an Azalea ( very common here in California)
Keep it in partial sun ( morning sun and shade in the afternoon is best)
