Like Andrew Yang said, automation is going to eat away the global workforce. He tells people to think about jobs that automation cannot replace such as vocational trade skills.. hvac tech, plumbers, nurses, mechanics, etc.. we need to change our mindset of how we think a software engineer for Google is more valued than a skilled tradesman.
Probably because of the AI like the famous chatgpt which is capable of writing an entire application in few minutes or even less, making websites, calculations, teaching students, solving assignments,……
Chatgpt will replace many existing jobs, and it's already happening.
If these companies are able to lay off that many people at the blink of a eye says that for years they were over-hiring. They were hiring everyones relatives and friends for overpaid/cushy do nothing jobs. Remember how Google had nap rooms for employees? You can't run a company like that and expect to continue to be profitable.
