Why is this the first i am hearing of insurance spikes over something that has happened how many times already in other places. So only florida?

Despite being an otherwise business friendly state it has many law and regulations that make unprofitable to do business here. Allstate and State Farm recently stopped writing new property and casualty in California for similar reasons. The very existence of Citizens is a product of regulatory meddling. Florida is also an assignment of benefits state which led to widespread abuse by providers and their army of attorneys. Too many other things to list but an unfriendly state for insurers.
That’s one crazy place to own a mobile home. When a hurricane comes thru, remember your home will be ‘mobile’.

Would love to see Florida completely flooded and be done with this whole hurricane business, people should not live where the environment is impssible. They remind me of the people in Pompei who went running back after the first explosion so they could get buried by the second one. What fools.!

Insurance companies bailed out of Florida in 2005. Some came back. The cycle is starting again.

All the more reason to not live in a location that gets hurricane winds and storm surges. The beach can be a nice place to visit on vacation, but not so nice to live near there. I would hate to be stuck in a hurricane ravaged area and trying to live in a water-damaged and wind-damaged home while battling the insurance company for a fair settlement. No one needs that kind of stress. So glad I no longer live in Hawaii and have relocated to southern Nevada where there is zero chance of hurricanes and near zero chance of tornadoes.
So sick and tired of jacked up insurance costs and unacceptable prices of building materials so these people can build on sand, in a swamp, and pretend its different every year. Only in our America…

I got a concern about insurance rates too. How come in a town of 500 insurance cost more than it does in a town of 500,000? That's insurance fraud right there on the insurance companies side. Hakuna Matata get your s*** together.
Makes no sense to build on the shore. If you do, you self insure. Tax payers don't want to bail you out. Pun intended.
And now the insurance companies have moved out of your state and not insuring you that I want to ensure You're not gonna be insuring the homes you're not gonna be insured. Double white trailers, you know. It's one thing that lives near the water, but you know the ocean. And if you think that the water's gonna stop rising, I wouldn't be surprised someday soon. That part of Florida will be under the water.
