For starters, they're not Musk's comments, but his defense of them are. And this is far from being the first time Musk has done this. He routinely defends racism and hate speech; in fact it's fair to say it his primary choice to defend bigotry of every kind, so long as it's White people against others.
Nobody needs Musk to translate hate speech and explain it away. We understand these statements when we hear and read them. It's not like they're speaking a different language or that the concepts they're spewing are of a foreign culture; we're not misinterpreting them. It's not like he's explaining quantum physics.
