NONE of the SO CALLED MAJOR media stations mentioned anything about these horrific fires until late LAST night!! As an Aussie who endured the horrific 2019/2020 bushfires, i can tell you it absolutely will take years. I am so sorry for your communities and for all the lost snd injured wildlife too. Beyond devastating.

Hyperbole from victimization culture politicians looking to gin up money they can skim from Uncle Sam. The damage is concentrated but no worse than in Malibu after 2018 (800 structures destroyed). The businesses will be back for the hotel guests as long as activists don’t obstruct (some people there love doing that even if it means fewer jobs for other Hawaiians). The big problem will be home insurance after a few years. Malibu residents have more money to endure such events (and insurance hikes). A lot of the fire victims in Lahaina were long time residents of the west side (not rich mainlanders). In Malibu, my association got a 600% increase in premiums. West Maui was an expensive part of the island before (Kaanapali Kapalua sure are) and that’s going to be even more so in the future. To tell people different is just a snow job. I also own on Maui’s west side, north of Lahaina (hope it’s still there).
You can’t really “recover” from what’s going to happen again and going to get worse-have a good extinction y’all ✌️

you can't just rebuild Lahaina. The clean up alone could take years….i already know lots of people from Lahaina (that didn't lose their houses) that said they are moving because it's a fire prone area and this WILL happen again. Lahaina will never be the same love you Maui and all the people from Hawaii.

Residents thinking the fires were in another area and suddenly it was right on top of them, whipped by 60MPH winds. People have said they didn't have time to grab possessions or even load their pets into the car. Other people jumping into the harbor to flee. I fear the worst as the days to come reveal the toll in human lives lost.
Iniki was 10 times the devastation. Fema is saying aproxx 1450 homes in Lahaina have been destroyed. Kauai lost almost 15,000 homes. I am on the north end of the big island we had a couple homes destroyed in south Kohala but nothing like Maui heart goes out to all those affected.
The people and wildlife native to Hawaii will never recover. The tourism and greed destroyed Hawaii long ago, just like it destroyed Florida. Greedy humans are parasites.
