Following the mass shooting in Highland Park, Illinois, authorities said that the gunman “preplanned this attack for several weeks” and bought a rifle legally before opening fire on a July Fourth parade. The shooter is in custody.

I live in Australia, where we decided to remove all guns after a mass shooting. I’ve never seen a gun in this country and the only news I can recall seeing of gun crimes is gang related.
I understand that in the states you’re all worried that doing what we did will just take the guns out of the hands of the innocent citizens that (think they) need to protect themselves. But I’m not seeing stories of gangs tearing through neighbourhoods killing women and children. I’m seeing disillusioned sole shooters doing that. Which makes it a lot harder to prevent.
Just make A change. ANY change. Take a step. Take the guns from everyone that you can. Then continue to work on it. Just get rid of them. Please, for the sake of humanity as a whole. You’re really letting us down by doing nothing. We are a community of humans and almost every other human is looking out for you and the lives of your children when we say to take them away.
Yeah, talk, talk talk and more talk on more actions to be taken but in the end none. Just talk. Meanwhile, keep shooting.

My problem is this: even if you ban the legal purchase of guns, this only stops the law abiding citizens from having weapons to defend themselves. Criminals are criminals for a reason; they don’t follow the law. What makes people think they will follow this law
