A hiker who had been missing for over a week was found alive in Texas’ Big Bend National Park. The 25-year-old woman is getting medical attention after she was found by rescue crews.

How STUPID is it for a female to hike ALONE? Does she never read the news??
Many hikers go missing and then expensive rescue operations begin, along with the distress to family and friends. I would like to see hikers take responsibility and carry a personal GPS tracker when hiking. For under $100 hikers could eliminate all that. Thankfully, she was found alive, but that isn't always the case.
Thankfully she was there in November.

I'm so glad she was found alive. That being said, she was foolish for going alone and completely unprepared.
She dishonor family and was banished I heard.
The new story reports conflicting information. They said she was found a quarter mile off the trail and then it was stated they found her on the trail. I suspect the woman bimbo reporting on the news just didn't State the right thing and that the fact is they found her a quarter mile off the trail. This would explain that the hiker most likely got disoriented and lost her way and couldn't find the trail again, then lost her energy/hypothermia and ability to navigate back due to her insufficient amount of food/water and poor weather.
Amazing that people don't know how to use a Compass and a Trail Map. smfh. Not a lot of trees in the Big Bend to block your view either. Glad she survived, but hope she learned some valuable lessons.
Theyre gonna charge her for drinking that rain water ……

I cannot tell you the amount of people I see going for a “day hike” in the wilderness with just a water bottle and little in the way of emergency supplies. It blows my mind. Even when I go on day hikes I take my emergency pack. Which also includes my emergency satellite beacon. Turn that bad boy on and your exact gps location is beamed up world wide to emergency services saying “Come get me!” Weighs less than a pound. I don’t understand how anyone goes into the woods or on the ocean without one.
So grateful to the rescuers. They really do save so many lives (mine included).
