Hollywood actors on strike

The actors’ union SAG-AFTRA failed to reach an agreement with the major studios, effectively bringing the film and television industry to a halt. ABC News’ Andrew Dymburt breaks down why.

  1. Somebody need to put the good Charlotte song "rich and famouse" to one of these videos 😂

  2. 0:42 They may plead poverty, but you plead as if you are broke. Work a regular 9 to 5 for minimum wage and they tell me your woes

  3. Let me cry for millionaires some more. Such victims. I don't own a TV, don't go to the movies, or watch any of their stuff so i won't miss them.

  10. A huge piece of the problem is that content on the streaming platforms need commercial breaks inside the streaming content like it was in broadcast because the ad revenue funded the residuals. If you forced streaming companies to play ads and then forced revenue sharing to the creatives in residuals, you could hammer a massive piece of this. This is a multipronged problem from high to low, and the ad model collapse was a huge loss for the creatives AND the companies and, ironically, even the advertisers. No money from ads? No revenue for ad sharing to creatives like broadcast tv. While i hate commericals? If the price of supporting artists on streaming platforms requires ads? Okay. Movies won't have ads, but if streaming will start feeling like broadcast again and those ad dollars will come in and those ad dollars will be profit sharing to actors, writers and creatives, everyone wins except the inconvenience to viewers. But if money flows to the creatives, and that's the only way? Break the streaming models and force ad dollar sharing. These people are going to be financially ruined if they don't get the model shifted. Some of them will have months. Perhaps the CEOs will come to realize this. There's a way forward. There's a way for everyone to win. Oh, and for SURE ban A.I. from creative writing and all forms of technical writing. ChatGPT has annihilated jobs and that's just the start. Ban A.I. writing and save the humans.

The companies that are allowing and using A.I. to replace humans are going to face a massive rebellion by people and what you are seeing here is a harbinger for the future when A.i. comes REALLY fast for jobs. Wait until it hits white collar. Its going to hit call centers very very very soon with tens and tens and tens of thousands of layoffs. If we dont protect labor NOW across the board, A.I. will trigger a depression. We don't have to go there. Pete Seeger would be screaming with his Banjo right now and, quite frankly, that's what's starting to take place without the music.

It doesn't have to be chaos. There's a way to make it all work. Truly. You start by having a heart, and after that? New ideas that bring people together in the social economy. The human economy. The men and women against the machines (the machines being real, in the system, in the people or even in the ether).

  11. Good riddance. Bu-bye. 👋

  12. GREAT NEWS. I hope the strike LAST FOREVER. Hollywood is full of PERVERTS just like the Democrats

  13. I thought they wanted to free their pal Weinstein! 😂

  14. Tell all the CEO to act and do the writing.

  15. Now is the time to boycott Hollywood.

  16. I can agree that writers probably don't get the recognition or salaries they deserve, but for actors to call the industry greedy….that's a farce in itself.
They've always made millions per movie and never felt bad about writers while they cashed those checks and now all of a sudden they care and bite the hand that feeds them. Lol
Equality is a big thing nowadays yet we justify huge salaries for actors while the average Joe's of the world have to be happy with what they get which is usually pretty close to minimum wage with little protection. Are actors really gonna be the "heroes" in all this? 🙄

  17. The rich want more money. They act and make millions and then they give each other awards. While the rest of us work hard and live in poverty. What’s wrong with these overpaid people?

  18. They have my complete support 👍

  19. The top name actors and executives have been gorging at the pig bucket for years while the riff raff got hosed.
