The Writers Guild of America told screenwriters that Carol Lombardini, the studio negotiator, requested to talk Friday about the possibility of resuming negotiations with the guild. It’s the first sign of movement in a stalemate between the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers and the WGA since May. CNBC’s Sarah Whitten reports.

WGA blinked first. No surprise. Reality is the studios can do with or without them.
Until the studios start to feel financial pain, they have no incentive to negotiate. They have a huge financial cushion from years of exploitation. Is it the studios or the streaming giants or both that need to agree to new contracts that guarantee residual income and protection from AI image exploitation? I don't see this being resolved anytime soon.

If they were that far apart a month ago then I don't see what could possibly change that would make things any different. If anything the writers and actors have made it known how much distain they have for the studios. I tend to think the strikes are going to last a lot longer than people expect.

Disney, Netflix, and Sony are now scrambling to hire AI people. How can this possibly be resolved, if the studios are going to go full steam on AI? also, even if SAG gets what they want, Bob Iger and the rest are cancelling shows and movies left and right. You can easily go from lets say 300 shows a year being made to 50
