With a 217-213 vote, the House narrowly passed a bill that would ban assault weapons for the first time since 2004, with two Republicans voting for the measure and five Democrats voting against it.

This goes against the constitution in which they have been put to enforce. It literally says and shall NOT be infringed yet they go and do dumb moves like this. This country going in the dirt

I intentionally avoid political topics such as these because of the hate it brings between people who’s opinions are different. You shouldn’t be allowed to just purchase an assault rifle because you feel like it. Why does anyone who’s not in the military, need weapons like this. I’m all for the right to bare arms, but with limitations. You should have to be older than 18, at least 21. There should be mandatory training both classroom and field as how to safely use and store. We all have to go through that to obtain a drivers license, so why should guns be different? Before my head is ripped off here, I understand this would not be easy, and to a lot of people seem unfair/ridiculous. Just like drugs, you can’t really call this a “war” on guns, because “wars” end. Just like drugs, the people who manufacture/provide/sell are the bigger culprits. Being able to profit off something that can destroy so many lives is sickening. Like the majority of people out there, I don’t have the answers, the only thing we have is our voice, and just like voting, we ultimately have the power (to an extent) to change things to a degree. There will always be evil out there, corruption, hypocrites, people who will never be open minded to change even if it could reduce senseless deaths of innocent humans. Nobody will ever be happy, regardless of what laws are created or not created, but allowing yourself to just think about this objectively would make a huge difference in itself. It’s in our nature to destroy ourselves and the world even if that’s not our intention. If we can’t realize the biggest issues (many more than guns) there’s no way we can sustain our world.

It’s bull and void right out of the gate and all who voted yes needs to be removed from congress they have ALL violating citizens unalienable rights .this must be addressed now. Censure and remove next voting cycles they are no longer Americans.

I don't agree with it but I do have to admit that shootings are becoming more and more common. It isn't just the tools used, it is also the people who use them.
Sometimes people just do it because they are screwed in the head, or sometimes it's because people are getting desperate. I don't think they should just ban "assault weapons" but it has to stop or slow way down.
Even if this passes the Senate (which I hope to gosh it don't) I hope the government pays back everyone what the firearm and or add-ons cost. (I know they won't so what would happen). Also, if we the people can't have "assault weapons" neither should anyone in the secret service, police force, fbi, CIA, armed forces, or anyone. Don't they dare just make it for average citizens.
What actually is an assault weapon? is it defined by caliber? or action or looks can someone please explain assault weapons to me? are they those things you see often being toted around California and Chicago plus New york in armed robbery And gang-related shootings? or is it those things granpas are shooting bucks with? what is an assault weapon? can someone please tell me?

I’ve never owned a gun and I’m anti violence of any kind but the way the federal government is over stepping on gun rights I think now is the perfect time to buy.
This will get challenged in court it clearly is over reaching by the federal government as it pertains to gun ownership and red flag laws.

We need assault weapons to go into schools and save kids. Cops are in it for themselves. We also need assault weapons to fight cops in places like Gastonia, NC where bad policing was show cased by total incompetence. Now, go fix the real problem(s).
