It’s mental health that’s the root problem
Parents should see how "easy" it might be to enter their child's school building.

I live in Germany and we have very strict gun laws here. I wouldnt even know where to buy a gun.

Start with NB, You have always known to supervise and check children , there has never been an excuse to add school children (non adult) to the mass shooting victim problem in the context of firearms control! Federal government probably has information on tens of thousands or more of illegally purchased firearms sitting in their files. Take Hunter Biden for instance. Yet done nothing, even after being notified.
With the introduction of federally accepted I.D for air travel and today's technology why hasn't ATF, (or AFT as Biden calls it). Put out a national registry of convicted felons or others that should not lawfully own or possess a firearm.
Have a data base to enter I.D and immediately say no sale, notify authorities or just declined like a credit card.
NRA was on board with this decades ago.
Whole point being is government is sitting on more than enough information to prevent some to a lot of these and many more events.
But is now too busy worrying about politics because last guy identified as left wing and this guy wasn't a white supremacist or concerned parent at a school board meeting.
Almost all have one thing in common. They all showed signs of mental distress/illness prior , almost all gave signs that were ignored by people close by and authorities.

All had criminal records, all put out signs on social media and within their own community, all obtained weapons illegally whether car or guns. All ignored by community and government.
